The city of Rome, the capital of Italy, is such an interesting and beautiful place full of history and beautiful architecture. World famous buildings like the Colisseum and the Pantheon, St Peters Square and St Peters Basilica to name just a few.

There are over 50 museums in Rome and its surroundings you can visit, or spend a day shopping in the famous shopping streets Via Borgognona, Via Cola di Rienzo or Via Condotti.

The city of Rome was originally built on seven hills: Cermalus, Palatiium and Velia (the three peaks of the Palatine Hills), the Cispius, Fagutalis, and Oppius (the three peaks of the Esquiline Hills) and Sucusa.

The Capitolium museums give you a good understanding of Roman history in the form of art and archaeology. The Piazza de Campidoglio square, where this group of museums are situated, was designed by the one and only Michelangelo. The famous bronze statue of the Emperor Marcus Aurelius on his horse is on display here, although this is a copy of the original. Within the museum there is a full display of treasures, tombs, mosaics and inscriptions of the Roman era. The original bronze statue of the mythical twins Romulus and Remus are also on display here.

The Pantheon, the Colosseum and the Vatican City are things of beauty that must not be missed.
